莲花  Lotus Flower, 2000

131 x 64 cm; Chinese ink on rice paper. Lotus symbolizes purity of the heart and mind and represents long life, humility, honor and tranquility. In this piece, we also see movement in stillness. We can see that the leaves and flower are being blown by the wind through the powerful brush strokes. All the elements here embody the essence of Taoism: nature, simplicity, and the nourishing balance of Yin (black) and Yang (red).
